Ice Tea

I make this the old fashioned way my Grandmother Carey "Nanny" made it back in Demorest, Georgia.
This recipe makes 1/2 Gallon of the best, kid pleasingest, thirst quinchingest beverage ever!

Start with 1 quart distilled water in a 2 or 3 quart saucepan.

Heat distilled water to boiling.

Add 1 1/4 cup (10 oz) white sugar to boiling distilled water.

Stir sugar in quickly with wire whisk or the like until completely dissolved and the water is clear.

Bring distilled sugar water back to a boil.

Add 5 regular size tea bags - cover - remove from heat.

Set aside and steep for 10 minutes covered.

Remove the steeped tea bags to a Pyrex cup - add a cup of water to cool tea bags.

Squeeze tea bags and discard.

Add to primary tea mixture in saucepan.

Pour tea carefully into 1/2 gallon picture (one that can take the heat).

Add enough water to make 1/2 gallon.

Stir.

Enjoy with lemon, lime and/or mint if desired.
