Fundraiser Benefit for the First Baptist Church in Milford Texas – August 11th 2006 – 7-11 PM
Local singer / songwriter RANDY TREDWAY is heading up and all star lineup to raise money for the restoration of a historic landmark in Ellis County, the First Baptist Church in Milford (Texas). The even is being dubbed “FirstFest” and will include kids activities and an auction of donated items.
One of the most important structures in the town is the First Baptist Church, a local icon of spiritual leadership--which stands firm as a soulful Christian refuge and council for the 700 residents of Milford--a community established in 1852 in the southernmost corner of Ellis County.
Tredway was contacted by Dr Gary Wimbish (Deacon) & Pastor Shane Norcross about assisting in raising approximately $30,000 to restore the foundation on this beautiful building. The First Baptist Church has been in existence since 1855 and in its current location since 1917. It houses some of the most beautiful stained glass windows anywhere! Currently, these gorgeous windows which enhance the hand-crafted charm of time and tradition are in jeopardy due to stress on the foundation. Additionally, the baptistery is bowing.
Tredway, a 22 year resident of Waxahachie, is host and founder of IN THE MUSIC ROOM with TREDWAY & Friends (www.inthemusicroom.com). The on-line show represents Internet radio at its finest (128 bit sound), free on demand, 24/7, featuring music and interviews in ˝ hour shows of some of the nation's finest Singer Songwriters.
Tredway’s request for artist participation has focused on former guests of the IN THE MUSIC ROOM show and has hit a home run with the show and theme of original Texas music.
As of now, the line up is Randy & his Co-Host of the IMR show, Helen Kennedy, TrueHeart (just returned from playing the most famous nightclub in the world, the Cavern Club in Liverpool), Jimmie Grockett, Wade Kilgore, Dale Marsh, Whit Hyde, Gary Pinkston, Paul Martin Zander, Bob Barraza, Bill Schereck, Michael Franceus, Paul Johnson, Jim Nitschke, CJ Randolph, Randy Randolph & Harold Hudson. More artists will probably be added as we get closer to the concert.
The response from the songwriting community in North Texas has been amazing and supportive of this wonderful cause.
